Vahe Kehyayan, PhD

Dr. Kehyayan is presently an Assistant Professor with the University of Calgary – Qatar where he teaches research methodology and scholarly writing. He is also Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo. His experience in health care spans over 35 years in provincial government, mental health, long term care and chronic care sectors and includes health policy and legislation, standards of care and services, risk/compliance management, health professions regulation, program planning and evaluation, advocacy of persons with mental illness, and research. His research interests include quality of care and life for persons with mental illness and the elderly. Dr. Kehyayan completed his PhD in Aging, Health and Well-being, Health Studies and Gerontology from the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. John Hirdes. He is the winner of interRAI's Innovation Award: "Integration: Advancing Quality Care Across the Continuum" (2012) for his doctoral research on long term care facility residents' quality of life using the interRAI Self-Report Nursing Home Quality of Life Survey.
